2020-2021 Tornados Club Tryout Information

2020-2021 Tryout Information

Check in will begin 30 minutes prior to start time and a parent meeting will be held in the concession area 30 minutes after start time.

Please verify your age division from the chart below before you register.

You will be required to leave the initial $500 deposit at the time of check in and will be deposited upon  team acceptance.

All athletes will be doing a uniform fitting on the day of Tryouts.  This does not guarantee placement.

Team placement will be made the day of tryouts.  Make sure to leave the best contact information.  Once you have accepted you will receive the Participation Agreement electronically and must be signed immediately to secure your spot on the team.

The Participation Agreement must be signed upon acceptance of team placement before you leave the facility  or your spot will be given to another player.

EARLY TRYOUTS

It is strongly recommended to attend the regular try outs but if you cannot attend you must still register for try outs and a pre try out clinic.  Please let the person at check in know you are there for a early try out.  You will need to fill out the Early Tryout Evaluation form and either leave a check or credit card for the deposit.

If you cannot attend a clinic and need to do a private try out you must still register for try outs and an additional fee of $50 will be paid to the evaluator.  You will need to fill out the Early Tryout Evaluation form and either leave a check or credit card for the deposit.

LATE TRYOUTS

It is strongly recommended to attend the regular try outs but if you cannot attend you will need to contact Brittnee Dawley at bdawley@texastornados.org for 10-13's and Brigitte Slack at bslack@texastornados.org for 14-18's.  You will need to fill out the Late Tryout Evaluation form and either leave a check or credit card for the deposit.  The fee for the late try out is $100.

TRY-OUT PROCESS (day of try outs)

At the front door you will verify your D.O.B., pick up a player information sheet, deposit form and envelope. Please fill out these forms and report to Station 1.

Station 1 (Turn in forms to be checked off and pay your deposit)

Once all forms and payment is collected you will be given a try-out t-shirt and a uniform try-on sheet to take to station 2

Station 2: Try on uniforms, fill out uniform sizing sheet, and select jersey number options. (Player numbers are given priority to players who have been in the Tornados club program the longest) PLEASE LEAVE UNIFORM SHEET AT STATION 2

Station 3: Take an individual head shot

Once you complete Stations 1-3 go to (SECTION 4, courts 7-8) for testing

WHAT TO EXPECT AT TRY-OUTS

  • Players will be evaluated (10’s-12’s-skill stations, 13’s-18’s-skills, position rank and competitive play)

  • Master coaches and team coaches will deliberate and make team selections (the day of tryouts)

  • All 10’s-12’s that make it will be selected to the club and be re-evaluated in the fall for team placement.  We will inform all 12 and under players at the end of try-outs if you were selected to the club. You will be required to sign a participation agreement before leaving in order to hold your spot.

  • You will be selected for a team the day of try-outs and called within 24 hours. If you are selected then you will receive an email with all of the forms that need to be signed electronically within 24 hours, in order to participate with Texas Tornados. If you do not receive your forms please contact Brigitte Slack at bslack@texastornados.org

  • Emails will go out to those that were not selected within 24 hours

  • Players will be evaluated (10’s-12’s-skill stations, 13’s-18’s-skills, position rank and competitive play)

  • All 17’s and 18’s will be told at the end of try-outs which team you were selected to. You will be required to sign a participation agreement contract before leaving in order to hold your spot.

  • Emails will go out to those that were not selected within 24 hours

FORMS WE WILL NEED ONCE YOU ARE SELECTED TO THE CLUB OR A TEAM

  1. Participation agreement (signed by parent and player) Electronically sent (This holds your spot)

  2. Copy of player birth certificate if we do not have one on file already (Bring to team meeting in October or November)

  3. Credit card form used for Deposit can be used for auto draft if marked “yes” on form.

  4. Code of Conduct (signed by parent and player) Electronically sent

  5. USAV Medical Release (not available until September 1st) On TT website under VB programs.

  6. Register for USAV-Lone Star (not available until September 1st) link on TT website under Club Volleyball, not included in fees

  7. Important Date sheet will be available on TT website in August.
